Admissions
North Portland Bible College has a policy of open enrollment, meaning that anyone may enroll; however, certain programs may require a high school diploma or GED, and a Reading/Writing Placement Test. Please call the business office for an admission packet.
Tuition and Fees
The tuition rate is $50 per credit hour. Auditing students (no credit or grade) are charged the same fee.
Fees:
Application Fee for new students: $15 (non refundable)
Late Registration Fee: $10 (after first week of class)
Finnacial Assistance Processing Fee: $7.50 (per application)
Returned Bank Item Fee: $15
Associate of Christian Ministry Degree Processing Fee: $15
Certificate Fee: $10 (maximum)
Graduation Fee: $25 (maximum)
Late Payment Fee: $5 (per week of contract)
Returned item fee $15
Methods of Tuition Payment
Tuition fees are due at the first class session; however, when necessary, a student may pay one third ($50) upon enrollment or first class, and the rest by a planned, written agreement with the registrar at the time of enrollment.
All payments must be made in US dollars by debit/credit card, cashier’s check, money order, cash or personal check, drawn on a US bank and made payable to North Portland Bible College.
North Portland Bible College reserves the right to make changes in fees, course programs, and all administrative structures described in our catalog and elsewhere without prior notice.
Returned Check policy
Checks returned for nonpayment will carry a penalty surcharge that will be billed to the student’s account along with the amount of the check. The amount of the surcharge is subject to change depending on bank policy.
Nonrefundable Fees: the $10 ACM application and evaluation fee, and the incidental fees. Other expenses students may incur will be for such things as textbooks and photocopying.
All fees must be paid in full before a certificate or degree is granted, or before the release of transcripts or grades.
Withdrawal/Refund Policy
All withdrawal and/or refund requests must be in writing. The date of withdrawal is the date that the signed request is received in the NPBC office.
First week of class - 100%
Second week of class - 90%
Third week of class - 80%
Fourth week of class - 50%
Fifth week of class – 25%
No refunds thereafter.
Financial Aid
NPBC does not have publicly funded financial aid. However, Some scholarship aid is provided through private donors. Usually scholarships are granted only to applicants who have already demonstrated their commitment and ability to do the work. Scholarship applications are available on request at the office.
Class Attendance
Students are required to attend and participate in classroom activities. Students are expected to attend at least eight of the ten scheduled classes for completion of a course of study. It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements with instructors for completing class work and meeting attendance requirements.
Evaluation of Course Work
Students must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA for the ACM program and for certificate work.
Student Classification
A Freshman is a student who has met entrance requirements and has earned fewer than 45-quarter hours of credit.
A Sophomore has earned 45 to 90 hours of credit.
Transcript of Records
Official transcripts are sent only at the written request of the student. A $5 fee will be charged for each transcript sent. No transcript or official documents indicating the completion of courses or degrees will be issued to anyone who has failed to meet all financial obligations to the College.
Transfer Credits
Students who wish credits from previous academic work transferred into NPBC programs must submit official transcripts within 90 days following enrollment. Copies of transcripts may be submitted to the Academic Office for preliminary evaluation during the admission process.
Graduation With Honors
Honors for graduation will be determined by the GPA earned only at NPBC. A minimum of 33-quarter hours must be completed with NPBC to graduate with honors.
In order to graduate with the following honors students must have the appropriate GPA
With high honors . . . 4.00 to 3.85
With honors . . . . . . . 3.84 to 3.75
With distinction . . . . .3.74 to 3.50
Accreditation
We are in the process of applying for state certification and national accreditation. NPBC has articulation agreements with Warner Pacific College and Multnomah University for the Associate of Ministry Degree Program. Both schools will accept credits in this program toward a liberal arts degree and their adult degree programs. |
